With the VEGA FIBERTRAC 31 & SOLITRAC 31, level changes are measured through the vessel wall meaning no contact is required with the medium being measured. The level measurement instrument is mounted on the outside of the vessel meaning the sensor is not subject to extreme process conditions. The FIBTRAC 31 & SOLITRAC 31 are an ideal solution for measuring levels inside pressurised vessels or when agitators are being used. The VEGA FIBERTRAC is recommended for round vessels and the VEGA SOLITRAC for cylindrical vessels. 

Radiation Based Level Measurement – The Measuring Principal

In radiometric, i.e. radiation-based, level measurement, the measuring device is mounted outside the tank. A cesium-137 or cobalt-60 isotope sends out focussed gamma rays. On the opposite side of the tank, a sensor picks up the gamma rays that have been attenuated by the medium. The level can be calculated via the intensity of incoming radiation.

The resulting measurement is unaffected by all the physical and chemical properties of the medium. Measurements in pressurised vessels or tanks with agitators can be easily realised. Different detector versions are available for different vessel shapes and sizes.
