Chromalox Hazardous Area Temperature Control Thermostats

Chromalox Hazardous Area Temperature Control Thermostats

Chromalox offer a wide range of temperature control thermostats for hazardous area applications including mechanical thermostats and ATEX temperature sensors with PT100 elements and optional transmitters.

While it is almost standard practice to supply heaters with failsafe over-temperature protection and the need to stay within tight thermal limits imposed by safe area temperature zones means additional safety cut outs are mandatory, it is still frequently necessary:

  • to cater for changes in process conditions
  • to handle variations in voltage, to correct
  • to correct for tolerances imposed during design
  • to eliminate as much as possible waste energy

To achieve this Chromalox have developed a comprehensive range of temperature control thermostats and temperature monitoring equipment.

Chromalox ATEX mechanical thermostats can be installed in hazardous areas providing simple, on/off, control to power controllers located in safe areas and are applicable to processes that experience gentle variations in temperature such as liquid heating in tanks, ambient air heating and trace heating.

Chromalox ATEX temperature sensors with PT100 elements and optional transmitter can be utilised to give distant monitoring in great detail of local process conditions thus allowing for precise control to be applied via PID controls or through DCS systems.
