Heated Hoses

Heated hoses allow for consistent heating along a flexible hose to maintain temperatures or improve flow characteristics.

Hoses are heated using an evenly distributed resistive heating element with an integrated temperature sensor to ensure the medium within the hose is heated at an even, pre-set temperature, avoiding hot spots or changes in viscosity, eliminating condensation, degradation and crystallisation.

Inner Hose

The inner hose is in direct contact with the liquid or gas.

Standard hoses are made of high quality polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) which has a very low coefficient of friction, a high chemical resistance and a temperature range of -70ºC to 250ºC.

Other materials can be used to manufacture hoses for specific applications

Stainless Steel Braiding

The stainless steel braiding is required over the inner PTFE hose for high pressure use.

Up to 3 layers of braiding can be applied to increase the operational pressure up to 500 bar at 24ºC (6mm diameter inner)

Heating Element The heating element is precisely wound around the hose at a constant predetermined pitch to ensure accurate and uniform heat density.
Temperature Sensor

An integral temperature sensor ensures accurate system control.

Several types of temperature sensor are available including PT100 resistance temperature device and Type K & Type N thermocouples.

Fleece The fleece ensures the heating element and sensor pitch remains unchanged during the repeated manipulations the hose will endure during operation.
Insulation Insulation material and thickness is calculated to minimise heat loss and ensure the maintenance temperature specified is achieved.
Braiding The braiding is designed to ensure the insulation material remains undamaged and is firmly held in place as well as meeting the static and dynamic bend requirements.
End Cap The end cap has the cable entry and ensures the hose remains intact during use and also provides a secure and convenient location for both the power and sensor connection cables.

Heated Hoses for Gas Analyser Applications

Isopad’s heated hoses can be used to maintain temperatures and prevent external contamination ensuring an accurate analysis can be carried out.

When analysing gas it is critical to ensure that the composition of the gas unchanged between the gas sample point and the gas analyser.

An example of this application is exhaust gas analysing equipment used by car manufacturers.

Heated Hoses for the Automotive / Robotic Industry Applications

Heated hoses are ideal for applications within the automotive / robotic industry such as securing car windscreens.

Car windscreens are secured using a hot adhesive applied using a robotic arm; this glue must be maintained within a specific temperature range to provide optimum adhesion.

Heated Hoses for Oil Pumping Applications

Heated hoses can be used to reduce the viscosity of heavy oil to enable this to be pumped between containers and transporters with ease.

Additionally heated hoses can be used with light oil in areas with severe winter conditions.
