What are Single Jet & Multi Jet Water Meters?

What is the difference between single jet and multi jet?

Water Meters are used to measure the volume of water used within residential and commercial buildings and there are a number of types of water meters that can be used.

Both single jet and multi jet waters meters are suitable for sub/secondary billing for domestic applications, batch control and water monitoring in industrial or commercial applications.

Single jet water meters are a low cost option where there is a direct impact to the impeller from the flow of water.

Multi jet water meter have several points at which the water rotates the impeller. This gives a much longer life and retains accuracy as the load is evenly placed across the impeller.

Multi-jet water meters are very accurate at low flow rates, but are not used in larger sizes, since they don't have the straight-through flow path needed for the high flow rates used in large pipe diameters.

Multi-jet meters generally have an internal strainer element that can protect the jet ports from getting clogged.

It is always recommended to use a multi jet meter rather than a single jet meter if possible.
