Trace Heating - Prevent snow and ice build up on external fire escapes and walkways

Trace heating offers a cost effective alternative to full enclosure.

Changes to building regulations state that all external walkways used as fire escapes/evacuation routes should be trace heated to protect against snow/ice build up. The cost effective trace heating solution to this problem is to use self regulating trace heating cable.

The trace heating cable is applied to the underside of each stair/tread/landing.

  • Sympathetic to building design - aesthetically acceptable
  • Cost Effective – a cheaper alternative than enclosing fire escapes and walkways
  • Versatile Installation - trace heating can be installed on/off site
  • Economic – self regulating trace heating cable automatically adjusts its output according to the ambient conditions.
  • Long Lifetimes – age tested trace heating for lifetimes in excess of twenty years

Over the years T&D have carried out many design and installations for this type of trace heating application.

We will work in conjunction with the architect, builder, contractor in order to develop the most cost effective trace heating design for specific applications.

T&D trace heating teams are on hand to carry out roof and gutter heating installations throughout the UK.
